What is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker? An Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) is a social worker who has advanced training, skills, and experience in mental health. AMHSWs are recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and can provide evidence-based therapy, assessment, and support for a wide range of mental health concerns.
Do I need a referral to see you? No, you don’t need a referral to book an appointment directly. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates, you’ll need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
What can I expect in the first session? The first session is about getting to know you and understanding your goals. We’ll talk through what has brought you here, what you’d like to work on, and start to develop a plan together. It’s also a chance for you to see if I’m the right fit for you.
How many sessions will I need? That depends on your needs and goals. Some people find a few sessions are enough, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll review progress together and adjust along the way.
Do you offer online sessions? Yes. I provide both face-to-face and telehealth (video or phone) sessions, giving you flexibility and accessibility.
